WORMS & CIE, holding company controlled by the Italian Agnelli family, is considering making a friendly bid for all the shares of the Franco-British paper group AWA - ARJO WIGGINS APPELTON (£881.2 million turnover in the first quarter of 2000) in which it is already the main shareholder with a 40% stake. According to the agreement under discussion, the bid would stand at some 255 pence a share.
