The Dutch group PHILIPS is selling its ceramics activities to the Taiwanese components group YAGEO for 650 million euro. These activities employ 3,200 people on productions sites in Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, Taiwan, Mexico, Hungary, Malaysia and the United States and saw a 1999 turnover of 335 million euro. This acquisition will enable YAGEO to increase its turnover to close to 28 billion Taiwanese dollars in 2000, against 6.75 bn in 1999.
