Brussels, 28/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission authorised the American chemical company Dow Chemical to take sole control of the German chemical and plastics company Buna Keuna Olefinverbund (BSL). Dow Chemical is in fact acquiring the 20% shares presently held by the German privatisation agency, the Bundesanstalt fur vereinigungsbedingte Sonderaufgaben (BvS), by de facto suppressing the right to veto of the BvS over the BSL. The European competition services felt that the change of control would not modify the company's position, of which Dow Chemical assumes the industrial leadership and the production since 1995.
