The French firm LAFARGE (construction material) has declared that it holds a 19.99% stake in the British group BLUE CIRCLE, as well as an option over an additional 9.61% stake held by DRESDNER BANK. The French firm recently increased its hostile bid from 420 to 450 pence a share. See EI of 3 February.
