22/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - The President of the EPP/ED Group in the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Poettering, reaffirmed that a substantial institutional reform, notably for the majority voting aspect, was essential to allow for EU enlargement under reasonable and responsible conditions. Without such a reform, the EPP Group would be ready to assume its responsibilities and delay the enlargement process, Mr. Poettering stressed.
