Brussels, 23/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, Europeans and Chinese will begin a fourth day of negotiations to seek an agreement on the conditions for China's accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO). The day before, the European Commission spokesperson had pointed out that this second technical session of the year had produced "further progress". "The result reached does not allow our negotiators to recommend that Mr Lamy should fly to Beijing today but does not rule out the fact that he could go this week", he added. He was wary not to make any comment about the difficulties encountered by the team headed by Hans-Friedrich Beseler, who had hoped he could determine more rapidly whether this session would be the last.
