- South Africa: Jeff Radebe, Minister for Public Enterprises, has announced the relaunch of the privatisation process in South Africa in 2000 after several failures in 1999. Last year, only 20% of SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWAYS was sold to SWISSAIR and 20% of COMPAGNIE DES AEROPORTS (ACSA) to AEROPORTI DI ROMA, and privatisation of the AVENTURA hotels and the domestic airline SUN AIR ended in failure.
