Brussels, 07/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission authorised Saab AB to acquire the totality of the Swedish public company Celsius AB, which operates in three main sectors: defence, aeronautical techniques and aeronautical services. Saab is also a Swedish company, jointly owned by the British Bae Systems plc and the Swedish Investor AN. It is also active in the civil and military aerospace sectors and in high technology products. After having noted that the sectors in which the activities of the two parties overlap are minimal and that the competitors may operate in the same markets, the Commission concluded that this operation is not susceptible of creating or reinforcing a dominant position.
Celsius recently merged its activities in the naval construction sector (warships and classic submarines) with Preussage AG (see EUROPE of 21 January, p.15).
