30/07/2026 (Agence Europe) – The European Central Bank published, on Thursday 30 July, an update of its ‘Government finance statistics guide’ in order to align it with a new guideline of the central bank, adopted in 2025, setting the statistical reporting requirements applicable to EU countries. This new version of the ‘Guide’ takes account in particular of the reclassification of the European Financial Stability Facility and the European Stability Mechanism among the Union institutions, as well as the creation of the ‘Next Generation EU’ budget and aid paid to the Member States, notably through the ‘Recovery and Resilience Facility’. The ‘Guide’ also revises the presentation of table ‘1b’ on financial flows between the States and the Community budget, and incorporates transactions with the Single Resolution Board and the Single Resolution Fund.
