European Commission approves Maltese Social Climate Plan

29/07/2026 (Agence Europe)On Wednesday 29 July, the European Commission approved Malta’s Social Climate Plan, which will mobilise €60.6 million by 2032, including €45.4 million from the EU. This plan uses carbon pricing revenues to ensure a fair and inclusive clean transition. The Maltese plan aims to renovate 236 public social housing units and support 1,431 energy-vulnerable households, 30,000 vulnerable transport users and 865 vulnerable micro-enterprises. This plan is the fourth national plan adopted under the Social Climate Fund, following the Swedish, Lithuanian and Latvian plans. To date, eight Member States (the four aforementioned countries, the Netherlands, Greece, Croatia and Slovenia) have officially submitted their plan.
