29/07/2026 (Agence Europe) – The EU delegation to Ukraine announced on Wednesday 29 July that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) was doubling its support for Kyiv, with a new €50 million loan guaranteed by the EU. This financing will help the city and its municipal electricity company, Kyivteploenergo (KTE), address urgent liquidity needs caused by wartime damage, increased service demand and constraints on municipal finances. This financing will ensure the uninterrupted provision of essential heating, electricity and municipal services, while helping KTE maintain its operations, retain its workforce and carry out urgent repairs before the winter season. The loan will also support the city’s efforts to strengthen its energy resilience and enable Kyiv to expand its assistance network for veterans across all its districts. (CG)
