22/07/2026 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Wednesday 22 July that it had approved the registration of ‘Mura / Murai’, a wine produced in the Mura wine region in south-west Hungary, as a protected designation of origin (PDO). Located close to the Croatian and Slovenian borders, this region is renowned for its wines with intense aromas, a full body and a fresh, vivid acid structure. The designation covers white and red wines, as well as Siller, a traditional style midway between dark rosé and light red. With this new registration, the European eAmbrosia database now lists more than 3,900 protected agricultural names in the EU.
