15/07/2026 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Wednesday 15 July the granting of a further €20 million in humanitarian aid to the communities most affected by the recent earthquakes (see EUROPE 13898/7). Since the end of June, two air bridges have been operated between the EU and Venezuela in order to transport 80 tonnes of essential supplies. A further €10 million will be allocated to financing the search and rescue operations already deployed in Venezuela. Under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, 750 people from 18 countries are being dispatched to Venezuela. This funding announcement comes as the European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, will be in Caracas from Thursday, where she will meet humanitarian organisations funded by the EU and local authorities coordinating the delivery and distribution of emergency aid.
