13/03/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 13 March, at the request of the EPP, the European Parliament voted by a show of hands to activate the urgency procedure on the report on the European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP). MEPs are due to debate the EDIP report on Friday 21 March in the Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) and Security and Defence Committees, before voting on the text on Thursday 24 April. The European Parliament is due to give its opinion at the May plenary session. The rapporteurs for ITRE are François-Xavier Bellamy (EPP, French) and, for SEDE, Raphaël Glucksmann (S&D, French). The Council has not yet defined its position on EDIP, which will be presented by the European Commission in March 2024. (CG)
