Second European Parliament/EU Council negotiating session on ‘Soil Monitoring’ is scheduled for Thursday 12 December

The next session of negotiations between the European Parliament and the Council of the EU (trilogue) on ‘Soil Monitoring’ will be held on Thursday 12 December. The permanent representatives of the Member States will meet the day before to prepare for this meeting. 

Proposed in July 2023 by the European Commission, the Directive on Soil Monitoring and Resilience (see EUROPE B13216A4) aims to promote healthy soils by 2050, the long-term goal of the EU’s 2030 Biodiversity Strategy.
