Report on progress of climate action, European Commission highlights “continued decoupling between emissions and economic growth”

In its 2024 report on the progress of climate action, following on from the annual report on the state of the Energy Union (see EUROPE B13480A2), the European Commission revealed on Thursday 31 October that net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions decreased by 8.3% in 2023 compared to the previous year, including net removals and emissions from land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) and international transport.
