European leaders unanimously condemn attempt on Donald Trump’s life

Following the attack on Donald Trump on Saturday 13 July, European leaders expressed their indignation at what many described as an “attack on democracy”. 

French President Emmanuel Macron reacted by posting a message on X, in which he spoke of a “tragedy for our democracies”, as did the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who said she was “deeply shocked” adding that “political violence has no place in a democracy”.
