EU extends sanctions to cover transfer of Iranian missiles and drones to Russia and armed groups in Middle East

On Tuesday 14 May, the Council of the European Union decided to extend the scope of the EU’s framework of restrictive measures relating to Iran’s military support for Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

In practice, this framework will also cover missiles - and not just drones - and will also cover Iranian support for non-state armed groups in the Middle East and the Red Sea region(see EUROPE B13396A2).
