Data provided by EU Member States on Tuesday, 2 April, showed a 15.5% drop in greenhouse gas emissions under the EU’s Emissions Trading System (ETS) compared to 2022.
This drop marks the most significant progress since the ETS was launched in 2005: emissions are now around 47% lower than 2005 levels, falling in line with the target of cutting [emissions] 62% by 2030 that was set by the 2023 reform (see EUROPE B13169A33).
