EU Council and European Parliament close to an agreement on ship-source pollution

15/02/2024 (Agence Europe) – Negotiators from the EU Council and the European Parliament discussed, on Thursday 15 February, the revision of the Directive on ship-source pollution(see EUROPE B13306A4). Its aim is to extend the scope of the current directive to cover illegal discharges of harmful substances in packaged form, sewage, garbage and discharged waters and residues, and to establish a strengthened legal framework for penalties and enforcement.
