European Parliament disappointed by ‘STEP’, Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform

The Commission’s proposal to finance EU industry through the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (‘STEP’) is not convincing MEPs. One month after the Commission’s proposal for a mid-term review of the Multiannual Financial Framework (see EUROPE B13205A3), the members of the Budget and Industry Committees discussed STEP and the amounts to be allocated to it with the Head of the Commission’s Directorate-General for Budget, Stéphanie Riso, on Wednesday 19 July.
