EU ministers gave the green light on Tuesday 16 May to EU Council conclusions on exiled artists. Approved during the Culture section of the Education, Youth, Culture and Sport Council (EYCS), the text focuses particularly on Ukrainian refugees (see EUROPE B13163A6).
The Council calls on Member States to promote “safe havens” for artists in exile. While noting that this is temporary protection, it encourages EU countries to integrate exiled artists into local cultural life.
