10/05/2023 (Agence Europe) – Arman Soldin, an AFP photojournalist, was killed on Tuesday 9 May in a rocket attack near Bakhmut, Ukraine. Several European leaders, including the leaders of Renew Europe, Stéphane Séjourné, and The Left, Manon Aubry, as well as the Vice-President of the European Commission, Věra Jourová, and the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, paid tribute to him the following day on social networks. “Media workers risk their lives to inform us. The war should end with a just peace for Ukraine. Justice should be served”, Ms Jourová also said. The Kremlin, for its part, expressed its “sorrow” while calling for clarification of the “circumstances” of the death and not to “take at face value” Ukrainian claims that the Russians were responsible for the strike.
