10/05/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 9 May, the European Commission raised €9 billion in a two-tranche deal in its sixth syndicated operation for 2023. This operation consists of a new 3-year line maturing on 5 October 2026 €5 billion issued) and a 30-year bond issue maturing in March 2053 (€4 billion raised). Investors placed bids totalling €29 billion for the 3-year bond and €59 billion for the 30-year bond. This corresponds to oversubscription rates of almost 6 times and almost 15 times, respectively. With this transaction, the Commission has achieved 74% of its financing target of €80 billion for the first half of 2023 (to finance Next Generation EU and the macrofinancial assistance programme for Ukraine).
