European Commission consults on a 2040 climate target

The European Commission has launched a twelve-week call for evidence, starting 31 March, for an impact assessment to feed into its assessment of an appropriate climate target for 2040.

And for good reason, Article 4 of the European Climate Law (see EUROPE B12750A27) calls on the Commission to present a proposal setting an interim EU target to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and to publish a report on the indicative GHG4 budget for the period 2030-2050.
