27/02/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 27 February, the European Commission opened a consultation period with the aim of streamlining cooperation between national data protection authorities when applying the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in cross-border cases. In specific terms, the European Commission’s work will focus on divergences that have emerged in the approaches followed by national data protection supervisory authorities since the application of the Regulation in May 2018, including the handling of complaints, the forms required for them, the length of proceedings or the scope of the right to be heard, as well as the moment in the procedure at which it is granted. Furthermore, the issue of complainants participating in proceedings, including the provision of information on the progress of the investigation, will also be raised.
