27/01/2023 (Agence Europe) – The Member States of the European Union are close to an agreement to cap Russian refined oil products (diesel, petrol, etc.) at $100/barrel and $45/barrel for refined products traded at a lower price than the reference prices (discount products), according to information gathered by EUROPE following a meeting of the Member States’ ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) on Friday 27 January. The ambassadors will nevertheless return to the subject next Friday (3 February), 2 days before the extension to refined products of the Russian oil price capping put in place by the EU, the G7 countries and Australia since 5 December (see EUROPE 13077/20). This is also the date when the EU embargo on Russian oil will be extended to refined products. (DG)
