05/01/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Thursday 5 January that it had authorised under the EU merger regulation the creation of a joint undertaking between HAzwei 3. Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH (‘Hazwei’) and EDF Deutschland. The joint undertaking, called Hypion Motion Neumünster, will be active in the purchase of hydrogen and its resale at a filling station to be developed, located in Neumünster, Germany. HAzwei is a subsidiary of the German-based E.ON Group and is active in the energy network sector, in particular in electricity and gas. EDF Deutschland, a subsidiary of the French-based Electricité de France (EDF) group, is mainly active in the electricity and gas sectors. The Commission concluded that the proposed amalgamation would not raise competition concerns given its very limited impact on the market structure. (CG)
