On Tuesday 25 October, the European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) approved by a large majority (42 votes in favour, 5 against, 5 abstentions) the nomination of Frenchman Dominique Laboureix as chair of the Single Resolution Board (SRB), the European authority in charge of resolving failing banking groups within the eurozone banking union.
