MEPs call on European Commission to allow investment in irrigation

Brussels, 15/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – On the initiative of Irène Tolleret (Renew Europe, French), some thirty MEPs questioned the European Commission on Wednesday 14 September about the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) rules regarding irrigation. Article 74 of the Strategic Plans regulation prohibits investments being funded that would affect a groundwater or surface water body whose status is classified as ‘less than good’.
