In a judgment handed down on Wednesday 22 June (Case T-584/19), the General Court of the European Union upheld the European Commission’s June 2019 decision rejecting the proposed merger between German (Thyssenkrupp) and Indian (Tata Steel) groups (see EUROPE B12272A1), active in the manufacture of steel products in several EU Member States, because it would significantly impede competition within the internal market and the European Economic Area.
