The European Commission launched, on 5 May, an online public consultation to evaluate the EU Civil Protection Mechanism by 2023, as required by the decision (1313/2013/EU) that established this mechanism.
The evaluation will assess the effectiveness and performance of the system between 2017 and 2022 in the three policy areas that characterise it: prevention, preparedness and response to natural and man-made disasters. An evaluation had already taken place in 2017.
