Eight EU countries have not established ‘maritime spatial plans’

03/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission published a report on Tuesday 3 May showing mixed progress on the implementation of the Maritime Spatial Planning Directive, which requires 22 coastal Member States to produce maritime spatial plans by 31 March 2021. While the majority of coastal Member States now have such a plan, eight countries (Estonia, Spain and Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Romania) have not made sufficient progress, according to the report.
