European Commission proposes to amend 2022 budget to ensure support for people fleeing Ukraine

The European Commission adopted on Friday 22 April a draft amending budget for 2022 to increase this year’s EU budget appropriations to support people fleeing Ukraine. This represents an increase of 99.8 million euros in commitments and 176 million euros in payment appropriations.

The funds will be channelled through the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and the Border Management and Visa Instrument (BMVI). Taking into account the possibilities for redeployment, the total...
