Thierry Breton announces future discussions to strengthen EU’s cybersecurity in face of Russia-Ukraine crisis

23/02/2022 (Agence Europe)In response to the Russian-Ukrainian crisis (see EUROPE 12896/1), the Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, announced on Wednesday 23 February, in the margins of the European Commission’s presentation of its proposal for data legislation (see other news), that discussions would be held on cyber security matters. “This is a very important issue, the President of the Commission, Ms von der Leyen, and I have decided to strengthen cyber security. This is an area with many actors and we now have to negotiate and discuss with a number of institutions, as well as with the High Representative, Mr Borrell”, he said. “We will try to pool all our resources to ensure security in cyberspace”, he added.
