EU ministers to discuss employment impact of digital and green transition on 15 February

The informal ministerial meeting of EU labour ministers, to be held on 15 February in Bordeaux, will provide an opportunity to take stock of the consequences of the digital and green transitions on employment in the Union.

In the morning, the ministers will meet in plenary session to exchange views on the impact of the double transition on the labour market. After a working lunch on this theme, the afternoon will be devoted to topical workshops.

Three workshops are planned, with the first one dedicated to investing in skills. The French Presidency of the EU will seek to identify and anticipate the needs and skills for the “jobs of the future”, both in terms of initial training and the retraining of adults.

The second workshop will be devoted to supporting professional transitions. This will include how European instruments and funds can be mobilised effectively.

Finally, the third workshop will focus on strengthening social dialogue at both national and European level to improve the adaptation of the labour market to climate and digital transitions. The workshop reports will take place at around 5 p.m.

Afterwards, the ministers will go to the ‘Cité du Vin’ and will meet in the evening for a dinner at the panoramic restaurant ‘Le 7’ to end the day.
