06/01/2022 (Agence Europe) – The space sector has received record government investment totalling more than $92.4 billion - an increase of 8% compared to 2020 - according to figures published on Thursday 6 January by Euroconsult, an international consultancy specialising in space issues. Euroconsult notes that civil space activities, which received $53 billion in 2021, or 58% of total spending, continue to be better endowed than military space activities, although the share going to defence, $39 billion in 2021, is increasing. With $54.5 billion spent last year, the United States remains the leading nation in space investment, followed by China ($10.2 billion), Japan ($4.2) and France ($3.9). The EU spent €2.5 billion.
