MEPs adopt 2022 budget, up 1.5% compared to 2021

The European Parliament adopted on Wednesday 24 November, with 550 votes in favour, 77 against and 62 abstentions, the EU budget for 2022, which was immediately signed by the President of the institution, David Sassoli (see EUROPE B12833A12).

The total level of commitment appropriations in 2022 is set at €169.5 billion, which represents an increase of 1.6% compared to 2021. The amount of payment appropriation increased to 170.6 billion, or +1.5% compared to 2021.
