10/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Director General of the European Space Agency (ESA), Josef Aschbacher, launched an appeal on Wednesday 8 September on his LinkedIn account for financial support for the European private space sector. “Having built an investment ecosystem for €2m-€20m, Europe now needs to address its funding gaps for companies needing scale-up funds in the range of €20m-€200m”, he said. Referring to the 2025 agenda (see EUROPE 12735/9), the Director General noted the creation of a new department dedicated to commercialisation, reporting to him, to give ESA new missions to help start-ups. He announced a cooperation agreement with ENEATech, an institutional venture capital fund, and the upcoming signing of a partnership with Station F, the world’s largest business incubator, according to Mr Ashbacher.
