03/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – ATCEUC, which brings together 32 professional and autonomous trade unions representing more than 14,000 air traffic controllers across Europe, has called for action in an open letter to the members of the European Parliament’s Transport Committee, after the Hungarian government issued a decree on 26 July that restricts the right to strike of workers in the sector. “Hindering the opportunity for Hungarian air traffic controllers to take collective action to defend their interests does not solve the problems that their action highlights” ATCEUC stressed. “It is unacceptable for a civilised European nation to act so brutally against the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights” the union added.
