07/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the EU adopted conclusions on Monday 7 June on the protection of vulnerable adults. The subject is one of the main priorities of the Portuguese Presidency of the EU Council and had already been discussed at an informal meeting at the end of January (see EUROPE 12647/9). The text calls on the European Commission to conduct an in-depth reflection on ways to improve the protection of vulnerable adults in cross-border situations (see EUROPE 12733/6). The Commission is also invited to consider the need for a legal framework to facilitate the free movement of judicial decisions on the protection of vulnerable adults in civil matters. The text also calls on Member States to accelerate their procedure for the signature or ratification of the 2000 Hague Convention. See the conclusions: https://bit.ly/3cmS5sL (MF)
