Social issue will be at heart of French Presidency of EU Council

07/06/2021 (Agence Europe)In an interview with the French daily Le Monde published on Sunday 6 June, the French Secretary of State for European Affairs, Clément Beaune, said that the French Presidency of the EU Council at the start of 2022 will put the social issue at the top of its agenda. For example, Beaune explained that France hopes to make progress on the directive on minimum wages (see EUROPE 12734/23), equal pay for women and men and the issue of platform workers. Furthermore, Mr Beaune wants to fight against fraud in the context of posted workers and wants to strengthen the monitoring of subcontracting chains. Lastly, he wishes to advance the project of a European training policy based on the French model of the individual training account. (PH)
