Slovenia becomes 11th EU country to incorporate concept of consent into rape legislation

07/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Slovenian national parliament has adopted amendments to its Criminal Code on Saturday 5 June, redefining rape as sexual intercourse without consent. Until now, for an act to be defined as rape, the Slovenian Criminal Code required proof that coercion, use or threat of force had taken place. The news was welcomed by Amnesty International Europe Director Nils Muižnieks, who said “the new definition is based on the explicit, ‘yes means yes’ consent...
