Transfer of freight from road to rail is emerging as one of Member States’ priorities for coming years

Meeting at the initiative of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union on Tuesday 30 March to discuss the way forward for the development of rail transport in the coming years (see EUROPE B12688A8), the European Transport Ministers addressed in particular the issue of transferring European freight from road to rail.
