EU RESPONSE TO COVID-19 / Budget
European Commission proposes €345.2 million increase in 2021 funding to tackle Covid-19

On Wednesday 24 March, the European Commission adopted a proposal to provide an additional €345.2 million in 2021 to escalate the battle against the coronavirus.

Amongst other things, the funds will be used to set up the ‘digital green certificate’ to allow free movement throughout the EU, improve waste water monitoring and improve the capacity to sequence coronavirus variants via the Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA) incubator.
