The political Fidesz family, the party of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, is leaving the European People’s Party (EPP). This official decision, which was not expected at this time, was announced on Thursday 18 March by the Hungarian party. It comes 2 weeks after Fidesz chose to leave the EPP Group in the European Parliament, which was preparing to suspend it (see EUROPE B12670A2).
