19/01/2021 (Agence Europe) – Following the signature by the EU and London of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement, the mandate of the Task Force for Relations with the United Kingdom (UKTF) will cease to exist on 1 March 2021 and its main pilot, Michel Barnier, will become on 1 February the special adviser to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on the implementation of this agreement and the final stages of ratification, notably in the European Parliament, announced the Commission on 19 January in a press release. To this end, the institution has decided to create a new service for EU-United Kingdom (UKS) agreements. Maroš Šefčovič, the Vice-President responsible for inter-institutional relations, has been appointed Member of the Commission to co-chair and represent the EU in the Partnership Council, the dialogue forum established by the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement.
