Malaysia requested consultations with the European Union within the World Trade Organization (WTO) on Tuesday 19 January regarding restrictions on the use of palm oil for biofuels by the EU.
The country considers that the measures of the European Directive on renewable energies are not compatible with the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures.
