05/01/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 5 January, the European Commission announced that the European Union has again sent personal protective equipment against Covid-19 to North Macedonia and Montenegro from the RescEU stockpiles hosted by Greece and Germany (see EUROPE 12579/17). North Macedonia received 107,000 FFP2 masks, 35,000 medical gowns and 140,000 protection overalls and Montenegro received 78,000 FFP2 masks and 15,000 medical gowns. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than one million FFP2 and FFP3 masks have been delivered to Italy, Spain, Croatia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia via RescEU. The Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarčič says “We expect that in 2021 this European medical stockpile will grow further”. RescEU is hosted by six EU countries (Denmark, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Romania and Sweden). (AN)
