04/01/2021 (Agence Europe) – On 23 December, the European Commission extended two flagship programmes in the humanitarian field in Turkey until the beginning of 2022: the Emergency Social Safety Net (ESSN) and the Conditional Cash Transfers for Education (CCTE) programme. ESSN provides monthly cash assistance to more than 1.8 million refugees to meet their basic needs and is implemented by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in partnership with the Turkish Red Crescent. The CCTE helps over 620,000 refugee children continue their education and will support 700,000 in 2021. It is implemented by UNICEF in partnership with the Turkish Red Crescent. (CG)
